Wasteland is set in a world ravaged by a deadly virus and within that world is Scott Miller, a man who, against the odds, is trying to carve out some sort of life. The deadly infection that has ravaged the globe has almost totally wiped out the human race and Scott must spend his days finding water, food etc. Whilst trying to find uninfected people by radio, he must also avoid the many dangers that lurk in the outside world, while he waits for the return of the love of his life, Beth.
A very nice departure from the typical depiction of life during a zombie apocalypse, actually very few zombies, no one turned total douchebag to try and rule the survivors.. this story surrounds one guy, doing his best to survive, while waiting for his love to return.
Keeping Scott sane, throughout the story, are a couple who he’s befriended by way of a C.B. Radio – approximately half was through, we learn that they’ve been attacked. The wife has been bitten, and the husband (George) can’t go on without her, so he gives in and allows her to infect him as well. This is a traumatic scene for our protagonist. Though we can see and understand the pain of loosing, what could be his only surviving companions.. honestly, there wasn’t enough development for me to feel anything for the scene.
I feel that this is a good movie with a descent story, but not original. Perhaps one of the more honest looks at the loneliness that being this character would bring.
