So, I was watching horror movies this weekend, and it came to me that it would be fun to have one of those Murder-Mystery nights, with more of a Survival aspect. I know some places do this sort of thing, but here’s my idea..
You are invited to attend a party, this evening. Should you accept, you will be rewarded. For there is a prize of $1,000,000* if you can survive the night.. in the House on Haunted Hill.
- Invite a small group of people
- Everyone is given a Character Profile when they arrive.
- Who are you
- Why are you here
- What is your secret?
- Within the profile packet is a sealed envelope.
- On the envelope is printed a time.
- On the given time, you will open the envelope and follow the instructions.
- The instructions may be to:
- Scream out loud and play dead (game over)
- Simply disappear (see a member of staff, you may return later, you may not)
- Reveal your secret
- The instructions may be to:
- Envelope contents are a secret to everyone, including your host
- Double-blind secrecy. No one knows who’s getting which instructions, so the winner is completely up to chance.
- First person slips instructions into the envelope
- Second person shuffles envelopes
- Third person randomly places envelopes into the packets
- Double-blind secrecy. No one knows who’s getting which instructions, so the winner is completely up to chance.
- By the end of the evening, One (random) person is left “alive”, and wins the grand prize.
- All participants receive some sort of participation prize.
There can be multiple stories made up to follow these rules, so the fun can be had over and over again without getting old.
* 1,000,000 prize is null and void of the participant as: Eaten in the last 24 hours, worn clothing, used artificial light in their lifetime, or ever seen a cat.
