Clue

BumpMapFrame

One of, if not the, first movies based off a game. Clue invites us to follow an evening of intrigue, mystery and murder as we try to determine:

  • Who did it?
  • How did they do it?
  • With What did they do it?

Six people are invited to an old mansion in upstate New York where they believe they are to be relieved of a significant financial burden.. Blackmail. Each person has a secret, everyone has a motive, and they all have to find out who just killed their host, before the police arrive!

This movie is comedy gold, every member of the cast is a seasoned comedian and/or comedic actor.

  • Madeline Kahn plays Mrs White, a grieving widow (Life after death is as improbable as sex after marriage!)
  • Christopher Lloyd is Professor Plum, adviser to the United Nations (What are you afraid of, a fate worse than death?)
  • Michael McKean is Mr Green, a man of mystery who works in Washington DC (I DIDN’T DO IT!)
  • Martin Mull is Colonel Mustard, brass of the Military (This is WAR, Peacock, you can’t make an omlet without breaking a few eggs, every cook will say that)
  • Eileen Brennan plays Mrs Peacock, eccentric wife of a US Senator. (But, look what happened to the cook!)
  • Lesley Ann Warren is Ms Scarlet, who runs a house of Ill Repute. ( I enjoy getting presents from strange men.)
  • Tim Curry is Wadsworth.. the Butler. (could you attend to the Colonel and give him anything he requires? Within reason, that is.)

From beginning to end, you will be either gripped in the mystery, or rolling with laughter.

Originally, the movie was released with 3 ending film reels, to be played randomly.. so you could see the movie multiple times and not see the same movie. For the VHS and DVD releases, they have all three endings playing one after another with “This is how it could have happened” on screen before each selection.

Honestly, I wish that they would put out a Bluray version with a randomizer feature, so you dont know which ending will be shown.
