I have to admit that, when my wife asked me to watch The Santa Clause, I was a little apprehensive about it. Tim Allen? Disney? Santa?.. seemed like a recipe for disaster to me.. But, I was wrong. This is a good movie with heart, tackling a real life issue of divorce within a fantasy story about a father becoming the next Santa.
While the specially effects are a little dated, they were very good for the time (90’s), and there’s just enough adult humor mixed in to keep the grownups laughing while going over their kids’ head. Disney’s usually pretty good at that.
I would recommend this movie for everyone.. but, stay away from the sequels.. Santa Clause 2 is silly. Santa Clause 3 is just bad.
