Moist Yellow Cake


  • 2 Cups, Self-Rising Flour -or-
    • 2 Cups, All-Purpose Flour
    • 3 Teaspoon Baking Powder (Only if using all-purpose flour)
    • 1 Teaspoon Salt (Only if using all-purpose flour)
  • 1-1/4  Cups, White Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup, Shortening
  • 1 Cup, Milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Teaspoon, Vanilla Extract

Cream together, Shortening and Sugar.  Beat in eggs.  Add Milk and Vanilla.  Add Flour last, mix until smooth.

Pour into baking pans and bake at 350 degrees for at least 20 minutes.  Check to see that the top of the cake is just golden brown, test with toothpick.  If toothpick comes out clean, cake is done.  If toothpick comes out with cake on it, try again in 5 minutes, until clean.
