There have been a lot of opinions about World War Z, mostly bad, some good.. here’s my take.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, edge of your seat, non-stop roller-coaster ride.. this may be the movie for you. There’s no doubt that WWZ delivers the action and chases to keep the heart pumping. Chases, gun fire, plane crashes and yes, even a nuclear explosion.
If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead and looking for a zombie movie tide you over until AMC brings back your favorite redneck zombie killing TV show.. well, you might be ok, but may be disappointed.
If you’re looking for a companion to the best selling book by Max Brooks.. look elsewhere. I’ve not read the book, myself.. but I have something called the Internet, and everyone who’s read the book are very vocal about how this movie shares nothing in common with the book, except the title.
Here’s my complaints..
- I’m sick to death of cry-baby kids in these types of movies. Every time there’s a family situated in the middle of a “save the world” movie, the kids are reduced to over-sensitive, helpless little babies, who need their teddy bears and cant stand to leave daddy’s side for a split second. It’s unrealistic, it’s annoying. Stop it.
- I’m sick to death of the sensitive Family Man Hero. “I can’t save the world, i have to be with my family”. Fuck you. Get off your ass and get your priorities straight you pansy. If you’re the guy who’s gonna save humanity, then get out there and do it.. or get the hell off the boat – that’s the only reason we picked you up in the first place.
- The biggest complaint people had when seeing the trailer for the first time was the “ant-hill” effect. Zombies crawling on top of Zombies to scale walls – I agree, this just didn’t look or feel right to me.
- The Zombies seem to have no motivation except to spread the disease. There’s no eating of people, there’s no “Braaaaains” – just bite, move on.. that’s it.
SO.. there we have it.
If you’re looking for a thrill ride and don’t care about content, and just want to munch popcorn. Go for it. But, if you want intelligent story and characters you can get behind.. eh.. get it on Netflix or something.
